Beloved, having accepted Christ into our hearts and as Christians, our proper response to God now is to live our new lives victoriously! For this purpose, we’ve been given a 3-principle enabler in Colossians 3 on how we ought to live this new life.

The 3-principle enabler involves the Peace, the Word, and the Name of Christ; and states simply:

1. Let the Peace of Christ Rule in Your Hearts v15

2. Let the Word of Christ Dwell in You Richly v16

3. Do Everything in the Name of the Lord Jesus v17

To have the first principle work and let the Peace of Christ rule in our hearts (v15)—we must, in every situation, humbly submit to the will of God! We must allow God’s gift of a peace of mind and heart take root and full control over us, and not ever be troubled or afraid in any circumstance. John 14:27

Next is the rule of the in-dwelling of the Word of Christ which is our second principle for Christian Living v16. Beloved, let’s learn from the early Christians who with little or no access to bibles and scripture teachings, were in fact more deeply scriptural than we are today. They lived and breathed the Word. They were passionate and committed to uphold the Word of God even to the point of being persecuted to death. Clearly, claiming to have holy lives and knowing our bible from cover to cover does not matter as much as practising and living out our lives by God’s Word. For this reason, the vitality of a church therefore is directly linked to how fully we allow God’s Word to dwell among us!

The third principle states that whatever we do, in word or deed, that we do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him v17. And that is how it should be. After all, ALL things are from God, through Him, and to Him! Therefore beloved, let us in obedience, respond to God with thankfulness and gratitude in all that we say, do and behave. As the peace of Christ rules, let us continue to be thankful. And as His Word dwell in us, let us make every word and deed an occasion of thanksgiving to God!

It is in God’s will to have us live happy, fruitful and fulfilled Christian lives. Let us from today present our lives as the sweetest offering in worship, praise and thanksgiving to our good Lord which is the least of service we must do! Amen!
