As we enter the new year, I wish you God’s choicest blessings. I also want to challenge you to a priority choice of faithful obedience to our God.  God desires dependence, trust, faith and obedience in Him. Faith is not believing in spite of evidence; faith is obeying in spite of consequence. Let’s learn from Abraham to respond in obedient faith to God’s calling. “By faith Abraham, when called … obeyed even though he did not know where he was going” ((Heb. 11: : 8).

At the age of seventy-five, Abraham bid farewell to Er, and eventually arrived Canaan.  Abraham obeyed God one day at a time; a step at a time, trusted God to lead him and God didn’t fail or disappoint him. Amen. Abraham faced the greatest test of faith.  God asked Abraham to sacrifice the very son God had given them. Abraham obeyed as he believed God was able to raise his son Isaac from death. In Isaac’s case a substitute died for him, but nobody could take the place of Jesus on the Cross.  Jesus was the only sacrifice that could finally and completely take away the sins of the world.  “Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” (John 1 : 29).

Let’s start this year with total commitment and obedient to God. Jesus said “If any one loves me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will love him and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14 : 23). You come to know God by experience as you obey Him and He accomplishes His work through You. God blesses those who are obedient to Him. The benefits of obedience are beyond our imagination. Obedience means joy and uninterrupted fellowship with God.

I love an old hymn “Trust and Obey”.

“When we walk with the LORD,

in the light of His Word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will,

He abides with us still.

And with all who will trust and obey”

TRUST AND  OBEY, FOR THERE’S NO OTHER
WAY.  TO BE HAPPY IN JESUS, BUT TO TRUST
AND OBEY.
