Pastor’s Message:

“And the multitudes that went before and that followed, cried, saying, “Hosanna to the son of David; blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest” (Matt 21:9)

The triumphant entry of our LORD into Jerusalem is celebrated each year on Palm Sunday. Jesus knew before His arrival in Jerusalem what was to take place. His every action was accorded to plan and purpose. Prior arrangement had been made for a donkey upon which He was to ride.

The triumphant entry of Christ was a fulfilment of prophecy. Zechariah had foretold the triumphant entry “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. See, your King comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey (Zach. 9:9).

By Jesus’ riding on a donkey instead of a horse. He was revealing that His Kingship was based on love and grace and not on force and power.

The multitudes shouted “Hosanna” – meaning “O LORD, save us”. But sadly five days later, they cried “Crucify Him, let His blood be on us and our children”. Today we celebrate Palm Sunday, which should remind us to guard against superficial acclaim for Jesus Christ. True faith shows up in faithfulness. God is faithful and He expects His children to be faithful.
