Pastor’s Message “Bow or Burn” Daniel 3

King Nebuchadnezzar make a solid gold image 90 feet high and 9 feet wide. At the sound of the trumpets, harps and other instruments, you are to bow down and worship the gold statue. Anyone who does not bow down and worship will immediately be thrown into the blazing furnace.

But there were three men in that great crowd who stood tall when everybody else bowed low. Their faith was in the living God. True faith obeys God and trusts Him to work out the consequences. These three Hebrew men know the law of God “You shall have no other gods before Me……You shall not bow down to them nor serve them” (Exodus 20: 3-5).

Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego, the three Hebrew young men, were thrown into the furnace. When the King looked into the furnace, he saw that they were alive and not dead, loose and not bound, and that there was a fourth person with them.! The King thought it was an angel who looked like “a son of the gods” (Dan 3: 25,28). The fourth person in the furnace was Jesus – Christ in one of His preincarnate appearances in the Old Testament.

Jehovah God is still on the throne. He hasn’t forsaken us. He promised to be with us in our furnace of affliction if we would trust Him and obey His will. “Do not be afraid – I will save you. I have called you by name – You are mine. When you pass through deep waters I will be with you, your troubles will not hurt you.” (Isaiah 43:2)

With love and prayer.
