6 Jul 2014: Daniel Chapter 6

Pastor’s Message – 6th July 2014 (Daniel Chapter 6).

King Darius appointed 120 governors to hold offices throughout his empire.  At this time Daniel was over 80 years old and one of the three top Administrators.  Daniel worked more efficiently and capably than all the rest.  Thus he attracted the attention of the pagan king and earned a place of respect.  Daniel had “an excellent spirit” – he was trustworthy, neither corrupt or negligent.

The jealous officials couldn’t find anything about Daniel’s life to criticize, so they attacked his faith in God. The 122 officials talked King Darius into signing a law that anyone who prays to any god or man during the next 30 days, shall be thrown in to the lion’s den.

Daniel made no attempt to hide his daily prayer routine.  Three times a day, Daniel go down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.  “We ought to obey God rather than man” (Acts 5:29).

At the end of the day, Darius had to call Daniel and have him put into the lion’s den.  The angel not only controlled the hungry lions, but also kept Daniel company, just as the Lord had come to walk with the three Hebrew young men whom Nebuchadnezzar had thrown them into the furnace of fire.

“The righteous is delivered from trouble, but the wicked takes his place” (Prov 11/8).  Darius threw those men who had accused Daniel, into the lion’s den and they were all killed. The man or woman who trusts in God and obeys His will be untouchable until God takes him or her.

To trust God is to have immeasurable peace.  God who delivered Daniel, will deliver you.  Amen.
