God is faithful, seek Him and He will restore you

Dec 13, 15 God is faithful, seek Him and He will restore you

Today we look at God’s hand in Jacob’s life, having blessed and freed him despite life’s challenges (demise of his wife and Joseph, whom he reunited with eventually)
Jacob, was prepared to go to a foreign land to meet his long lost son, Joseph as his last wishes in his late ages, being defeated and sorrowful.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13 KJV)

He had suffered many tragedies in life:

– his elder brother, Esau, was more able, and had wanted to kill him because Jacob stole his birthright blessings

– he suffered many famines, even unto late age, his sons had to go Egypt to buy supplies

– his daughter, Dinah was raped

– his sons, Simeon and Levi took revenge into their own hands and slaughtered the whole town of the perpetrator

– his wife died in labour
Yet, despite all these, God restored him fully in his late years:

– his reunion with Joseph in Egypt where they were abundantly blessed and provided for
– God named him Israel where the descendants of Israel the nation were one and plentiful
Jacob was given a name that means “heel catcher”: “Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob.” (Genesis 25:26 NKJV) Jacob was later given the name “Israel”, which means “Prince with God” or “God prevails”: “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” (Genesis 32:28 NKJV)

God is faithful, he will never leave you. He will bring you through the tough times and find victory in your lives, because the tough times are in His plans.

Just like how he worked through Joseph – being betrayed sold and by his brothers, thought as dead by Jacob, experienced hardship.

And yet in many years it was through Joseph that God used to tide the family through famine, domination by the Caananites and even a major role in uplifting his dad Jacob’s life.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (James 4:8 KJV)
