O death where is your sting?

Mar 27, 16 O death where is your sting?

Easter message: He is Risen!

“O Death, where is your sting?

O Hades, where is your victory?“ (1 Corinthians 15:55 NKJV)

Scripture message

But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

“And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” (Matthew 28:5 – 28:7 NKJV)
Every mortal dies..

  • Solomon despite his wisdom
  • Samson deposited his strength
  • Methuselah despite longevity of 969 years old

The wages of sin is death, the fate of all mortals
But we are made alive through the resurrected King

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22 NKJV)

The world hopes for the best, but we have the best hope given unto us

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (1 Peter 1:3 NKJV)
The physical temple has been destroyed, but rebuilt as His body, because He is risen!

Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But He was speaking of the temple of His body (John 2:19 – 2:21 NKJV)

Witness of the Risen Jesus by many

and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time (1 Corinthians 15:4 – 15:8 NKJV)

Account of Jesus by “Doubting” Thomas

Seeing is believing but faith is belief in the things unseen

After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles…

Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed (John 20:27 – 20:29 NKJV)

The resurrection guarantees God’s promise of eternal life

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (1 Corinthians 15:20 NKJV)

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed – in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (1 Corinthians 15:51 – 15:52 NKJV)

So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.“ (1 Corinthians 15:54 NKJV)

“O Death, where is your sting?
