Discipleship: a life of evangelism

May 22, 16 Discipleship: a life of evangelism

A life of discipleship devoted to evangelism

Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”  (Matthew 4:19 NKJV)

Jesus’s plan for us as Christians – to win more souls for the kingdom. Clearly as He had said to the disciples as “fishers of men”.

Going the way to win one lost soul:

Jesus way of going all out to save one just one soul

Parable of the lost sheep

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? “And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. “And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ’Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

“I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. (Luke 15:1 – 15:7 NKJV)

Parable of the lost coin

“Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10 NKJV)

Be understanding and adaptable. Relate to different groups so that you may relate the good news of the gospel and win souls.

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; (1 Corinthians 9:19 NKJV)
and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews;
To the religious, but yet have to know of the gospel

to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; (1 Corinthians 9:20 NKJV)
to those who are without law,

To the free thinkers

as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; (1 Corinthians 9:21 NKJV)

To the needy of help
to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. (1 Corinthians 9:22 NKJV)
