The Abundant Life as Christians and Our Mission

Dec 04, 16 The Abundant Life as Christians and Our Mission

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. (Matthew 10:16 NKJV)

Why did Jesus use these four animals to symbolize our mission as Christians?

God’s purpose for you in life is an empowering one, for you to live life in abundance, in eminence, because He walks before you, and His grace and mercy is provided alongside as you journey.
But what does it mean for us to be sent as sheep to a world of wolves, as Christians?
Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Be as sheep

Jesus led in example; being the sheep that overcame the wolf (Satan) in His 40 days of fasting.

Rely on His strength, be obedient as Christians and you will find strength not on your own but of Him that overcomes the world.

And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ’You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ “ (Luke 4:8 NKJV)
Wise as serpents

Sense danger, moves away

Prudent: A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself;  The simple pass on and are punished. (Proverbs 27:12 NKJV)

Seek His guidance, don’t speak too early as they become acts of rashness.

Harmless as doves

Purity, Holiness.

Be wise and harmless as doves. Doves are also symbolic to the Holy Spirit.
