The Great Commission. Evangelize

Feb 26, 17 The Great Commission. Evangelize

The Great Commission = the Great Instruction by Jesus
Today we examine our mission to spread the faith. And take the example from the early church

Christ is coming, our time is limited and the work is plenty

As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go (Acts 1:10 – 1:11 NLT)

Holy Spirit works wonders in us; we are not alone

And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs. (Mark 16:20 NLT)

How did the early church operate? The early church was totally committed to Jesus

Paul’s commitment to spread the gospel
For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. (Philippians 1:21 NLT)

Jesus’ forgiveness and love for all. Our mission to save souls

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died (Acts 7:59 – 7:60 NLT)

Operate in forgiveness

Anger and unforgiveness is a cancer. It will eat into your soul and set a distance between your relationship with God.

If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins (Matthew 6:14 – 6:15 NLT)
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. (Ephesians 4:31 NLT)

Christians to submit to authority as you are subject to Christ

For the Lord’s sake, respect all human authority – whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right. It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the king.
You who are slaves must accept the authority of your masters with all respect (1 Peter 2:13 – 2:18 NLT)
You who are slaves must accept the authority of your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you – not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel. (1 Peter 2:18 NLT)
For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment. (1 Peter 2:19 NLT)
Build the Church, love and save souls. Go, evangelize

Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. (Matthew 16:18 NLT)
