Bible: The Word of God

Mar 22, 17 Bible: The Word of God

1) The Word of God is powerful in the conversion of sinner

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (2 Timothy 3:16 NLT)
Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God (2 Peter 1:20 – 1:21 NLT)
2) The Word of God is powerful in cleansing of sins:

Does not my word burn like fire?” says the Lord .  “Is it not like a mighty hammer  that smashes a rock to pieces?   (Jeremiah 23:29 NLT)

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes – the Jew first and also the Gentile. (Romans 1:16 NLT)

How can a young person stay pure?  By obeying your word.   (Psalm 119:9 NLT)
3) The word of God is powerful in producing fruit

A Bible-less Christian is a fruitless Christian

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. (Joshua 1:8 NLT)
BOOK ONE (Psalms 1–41)

Oh, the joys of those who do not  follow the advice of the wicked,  or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.

But they delight in the law of the Lord ,  meditating on it day and night.

They are like trees planted along the riverbank,  bearing fruit each season.

Their leaves never wither and they prosper in all they do. (Psalm 1:1 – 1:3 NLT)
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5 NLT)
4) The Word of God is everlasting

The grass withers and the flowers fade,  but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8 NLT)
5) The Word of God is profitable for teaching

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work (2 Timothy 3:16 – 3:17 NLT)

6) The Word of God gives life

“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. (John 5:24 NLT)

Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles (Romans 1:21 – 1:23 NLT)

So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.

As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen (Romans 1:24 – 1:25 NLT)

Ezra stood on the platform in full view of all the people. When they saw him open the book, they all rose to their feet. Then Ezra praised the Lord , the great God, and all the people chanted, “Amen! Amen!” as they lifted their hands. Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground (Nehemiah 8:5 – 8:6 NLT)

7) The Word of God cleanses sin

You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. (John 15:3 NLT)

Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. (John 17:17 NLT)
But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7 NLT)
